#MilesForMozambique

Thank you for your interest in our Miles for Mozambique fundraising campaign. We’ve never done anything like this, so we appreciate all feedback and questions - but first be sure to read the Common Questions below.

How it Works:

Step 1: Decide what style of race.

Whatever you want to do to cover miles works for us. Running, walking, swimming, biking… you get the idea!

Step 2: Find a race and sign up.

Search for a race in your area that fits your schedule and sign up for that race and pay your race fee. Use site like raceraves.com if you need help finding something specific.

Step 3: Sign up with Kihavo Ministries.

Let us know about your race and fundraising goal. After you sign up, we will set you up on our Team page to start raising funds to support Kihavo Ministries. The support you raise will be used to help Kihavo build much needed classrooms in Mozambique!

Step 4: Spread the word about Kihavo Ministries and your race!

Step 4: Race Day!!

Run, walk, skip, hop or jump your #MilesForMozambique - and realize that you are helping Kihavo Ministries bring the gospel and faith-based tutoring to Pemba, Mozambique!

FAQs

What kind of race can I sign-up for?

Whatever kind you like, so long as you are on the move and completing Miles for Mozambique. We started this campaign for runners, but you could bike or swim. Let us know if you’re still unsure if your race would qualify.

How do I find a race in my area?

You can visit a website like www.raceraves.com or do a google search.

Does my race entrance fee benefit Kihavo Ministries?

No, Kihavo is not hosting any races, so the registration fee goes directly to the race.

How does Kihavo benefit from my race?

Kihavo benefits a few ways. When you share about your race, you help us introduce new people to Kihavo Ministries (this is a huge help). If people choose to support your race, that money goes to help Kihavo with building new classrooms, tutoring or other needs of your choice.

Is there an age minimum?

No, so long as the race allows the child to sign up as a participant.

What is the deadline for my race date?

There isn’t one! But if you’re looking at a race in 2024, please contact us before you sign up.

Can we fundraise as a team?

Yes! We love that idea. Please note that in the case of teams, incentive levels will be multiplied by the number of members on the team. For example, if there are three team members and you’re wondering how much you need to raise to receive a Miles for Mozambique t-shirt. Take $200 (incentive amount) X 3 (number of team members) = $600 (the amount needed for the entire team to receive the shirts.

Can the money I raise go towards Sponsoring a Student, providing Food Kits to IDP families or other needs?

We are definitely open to this, please email amanda@kihavo.org your thoughts or questions.

Can people write checks?

Yes. No matter what fundraising method you pick, James 127 can accept checks. These would be recorded on GoFundMe as offline donations. Checks can be sent to:

James 1:27 Mission Friends - PO Box 197 - Harbert, MI 49115
