Amanda Macarrao / Co-Founder & Director of Operations

Amanda has always leaned into organizational and administrative tasks and these have aided her in overseeing Kihavo Ministries since it began in 2014. One of Amanda’s strengths in the field is her ability to adapt and try new ideas that are tailor made to the needs of Muxara. Amanda oversees planning, promotions, design, financial and other smaller aspects of Kihavo Ministries. She graduated from Judson College with a B.A. in Architecture. Amanda’s design skills are also put to use with each building we dream up and in our Made with Moxie sewing studio, where she where she oversees creative aspects of the items sewn in Mozambique.

Amand and her husband, Nunu, were married in 2012 and they are the Co-Founders of Kihavo Minitries (previously known as The Widow’s Might). They have two children together. She enjoys doing anything creative, reading fictional books and listening to music when she has time.

Nunu Macarrao / Co-Founder & Director of Ministries

Nunu is a beloved member of our village in Muxara, gainging himself the nickname, “Mohavo!” (meaning “how are you?!” in the local tribal language) He was given this name because he is known for asking people how they are doing with so much energy. He has a way of connecting with our neighbors, even those many would consider undesirable. Nunu’s has his undergrad in Law (Mozambican) from the Catholic University of Mozambique and a Master in New Testament. He is familiar with a lot of the legal processes and requirements that Kihavo must maintain to meet Mozambican requirements. He oversees the staff in Mozambique, building projects, outreach and Biblical curriculum.

Nunu and his wife, Amanda, were married in 2012 and they are the Co-Founders of Kihavo Ministries. They have two children together. He enjoys being with friends, running, listening to podcasts, reading Bible Commentaries and listening to music.

He is now a design engineer for Consor Engineers, a civil/environmental consulting firm where he designs water treatment systems for municipalities in the US. Daniel has supported Kihavo financially for several years and is very pleased to serve as a board member to advance its mission to train women to be self-sufficient and tutor children in Mozambique.

Kristi Scott / Secretary

Kristi Scott is an LISW (Licensed Independent Social Worker) who has been a homeschool mom for the past 7 years, homeschooling her 3 youngest daughters. Kristi's connection to the ministry unknowingly began over 20 years ago when God called her to Mozambique. Here she met Nunu when he was a young man, and God kept that connection alive until he married Amanda, and Kristi became involved with Kihavo. Kristi thought that her original call was to be a missionary in Africa, however God reminded her that she didn't need to travel to Africa to reach the "widows and orphans." They existed here in America as single moms and in the foster care system. Her work in social work was always in foster care, and it is here that she met their 4th oldest daughter, whom she and her husband adopted as a teenager. Although her call is in America for now, her real heart and passion is for the work that Kihavo is doing in Mozambique and she is proud to be a part of it.
